An interpolation of Twin Peaks, and a random year in the 80’s. It’s significant of the fact that all the samples are songs from the 80’s, and Qari’s watching of the show during the release of the project.
It’s meant to read as the title of a fictional movie, Directed by Qari.
The artwork, made by Mallory Talty, depicts a woman seductively lying underneath a majestic golden garland of curtain. Layered behind is a textured, midnight-colored empty space that could be perceived as a wall. Qari is colorblind and doesn’t really know what color it is, or the woman, but he’s pretty sure she’s pink. The woman’s face is obscured by a reflective globe which, if you really look closely, you can see her head faintly revealed within it. The bottom of the image is peppered with distorted duplications of the globe
All the music you hear in Skin Deep are beats with samples chopped by Qari.
Barely scratching the surface, Skin Deep (1984) boasts a 10 and a half minute runtime, colorfully chocked with notions of generational narcissism, poison, rheumatoid arthritis, exotic leather, Mexican rice dishes, winterized winter wives, transfusion, and of course… the proverbial cliffhanger… Don’t miss it!
Qari’s 3rd project of the year, Skin Deep (1984) is an invitation to revisit Can’t Hide Inside (January 2025), and Violence Jack (May 2025), and experience this year of Qari’s work.
Qari is having fun and living his life and working on multiple other projects to be released in the near future. All pretty fun stuff.
